Former U.S. Secretary Of The Treasury to invest in Cat Ba Amatina project

VNRE – In Hanoi, on 01/13/2012, Prof.-Dr. John W Snow, a leading investment advisor of the U.S. and the world, 73rd Secretary Of The Treasury of the United States, current chairman of Cerberus investment fund has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vinaconex-ITC company about investment in Cat Ba Amatina project with the presence of the press, Vinaconex Corporation and the representative of World Link International Group.

This project is owned by Vinaconex-ITC, a member of the Vinaconex Corporation.
Accordingly, Prof. John W Snow will support and cooperate with Vinaconex-ITC to invest or introduce investors to the Cat Ba Amatina project, and research business opportunities in the investment and developing real estate projects in Vietnam.
Vinaconex-ITC is member of the Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation (Vinaconex) has chartered capital of VND 300 billion, total assets as of end of quarter I/2010 to reached VND 417 billion; work in two main areas of investment and business in real estate and business in tourism services.

Cat Ba Amatina project was launched with the goal of building a center of tourism, international-class resort in the north with an area of 172.27 hectares, total investment up to $1 billion.
This project has the main items such as: 7 resorts with about 800 villas, two marinas, a boat landing, an international conference center, the international trade center, parks and sports center, multi-functional entertainment areas, six 5-star hotels and a 4-star hotel.

Vietnam to build first exclusive economic zone in Laos

VNRE – Vietnam real estate developer Long Thanh Golf Investment and Trade Joint Stock Company said it was given a go-ahead from the Lao Government to upgrade its golf course and real estate complex into an exclusive economic zone.
The company said the pact was signed by Lao Minister of Planning and Investment Somdy Douangdy and its CEO Le Van Kiem.
Both sides agreed to build and develop the project in line with Laos’s Special Economic Zone development policy, the US$200 million (S$260 million) company, based in the southern province of Dong Nai.
Vietnam’s Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his Lao counterpart Somsavath Lengsavad attended the signing ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the 34th session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee on socio-economic, scientific and technological co-operation.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister Thoonglun Sisoulith said this exclusive economic zone was expected to become a symbol of investment co-operation between Laos and Vietnam.
Deputy PM Thoonglun also thanked Kiem for the effective investment as well as his donations to charitable activities in Laos, such as building schools, houses for disadvantaged people, a cemetery for fallen soldiers and providing eye surgeries for 3,000 poor blind people, worth over US$4.5 million in total.
Long Thanh Gold Trade and Investment JSC is among a number of Vietnamese businesses operating successfully in Laos such as Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, the Bank of Development and Investment of Vietnam, and Hoa Phat Group.
To date, Vietnam has implemented 424 investment projects in Laos capitalised at $3.57 billion, ranking second among foreign investors in the country.
Bilateral trade was valued at $636 million between January-November last year, a year-on-year increase of 48 per cent, and it is estimated to hit $700 million for the whole year.

The two countries aim to raise two-way trade to $1 billion in 2012 and $2 billion in 2015.

Bitexco will begin construction the Ben Thanh Tower project in Quarter I/2012

VNRE Mr. Vu Quang Bao, director of Bitexco said, Quarter I/2012, this group will start the Ben Thanh Tower project, Hochiminh City. Under the plan, later in 2015, the project will be completed and put into operation.

Ben Thanh Tower is built on an area of 8,592 m2, total floor area of 138,256 m2, total investment of USD 400 million. The twin towers have a height of 55 floors, functional area including 30% apartments, 17% hotels, 25% retail, 18% office, 10% of the basement.
In addition, Bitexco Group is deploying the Hoang Mai Township project in Hanoi. Hoang Mai Township is in the process to declare and implement procedures for site clearance. As planned, the project will also be started construction in 2012.
Bitexco is studying a number of investment projects such as Nhon Trach urban (Dong Nai Province), housing and offices in An Van Duong urban (Hue City), commercial center – offices and housing in Duong Huong urban (Thanh Hoa City), resort project in Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc Province) and inSapa (Lao Cai Province).
